Lancashire CCC Press Release22-Aug-2003Lancashire County Cricket Club has agreed to re-lay the county wicket atBlackpool Cricket Club, Stanley Park.Lancashire Head Groundsman Peter Marron will oversee the work, which isscheduled to take place over 4 days at the beginning of September and itwill include a complete replacement of the pitch. Marron stated; "Thewicket was looking a little tired and it was time to replace it, I’m pleasedthat we are able to assist Blackpool with this work."Murray Birnie Lancashire Vice-Chairman said; "I’m delighted that theCommittee has agreed to provide this investment at Blackpool CC, itreinforces our commitment to bringing first-class cricket to the rest of thecounty." He added; "The Lancashire outgrounds are a very important part ofcounty cricket and we will continue to support this to the best of ourabilities."Steven Kennedy, Blackpool CC Secretary commented; "It is fantastic news andI’m very pleased that the County has shown this confidence in Blackpool’sfacilities and our ability to hold first-class cricket.
