A Spanish court has formally prosecuted Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio over an alleged child sex abuse scandal.

reports that that a Gran Canaria court has formally prosecuted Asencio and his former Madrid academy team-mates Andres GarcÃa, Ferran Ruiz, and Juan Rodriguez for allegedly recording sexual images of two women, one of whom was a minor, and distributing them without their consent in June 2023.

The report adds the judge in charge of the case has ordered the formalising of criminal proceedings against Asencio, 22, and his ex-team-mates, paving the way for the prosecutor's office to file charges and request the opening of a trial. Incidentally, the quartet were arrested in September 2023 and their mobile phones were seized by police.

The alleged crimes include: discovery of secrets without consent and violation of privacy, distribution and sending of videos to third parties without warning or consent to the injured parties, and recruitment or use of minors for pornographic purposes and possession of child pornography.
